Slideshow Gallery v1.0.4 for WordPress 2.9

This is a quick release of the WordPress slideshow gallery plugin to ensure the compatibility with WordPress 2.9. Everything is running perfectly fine.

Another minor fix was made by lowering the z-index CSS attribute of the #fullsize DIV to ensure that it stays below certain elements on your site like if you had a drop down menu for example.

I am aware of the IE (Internet Explorer) issue with the HREF link/icon and it will be fixed asap.

Enjoy the release and feel free to comment!

Trying to use this plug-in with WP 2.9. When I activate it and am using my custom theme the whole page appears blank even though all the code is appearing. When I deactivate the plug-in things work again. WHen I use the Classic theme and activate the plug-in things work fine. I’ve tried to make sure that my custom theme has everything it needs but could have missed something. Is there anything I need to make sure is in my theme in order to not have the slideshow plugin cause a conflict?

Thank you for your comment. What theme are you using? There could be a conflict with the element IDs. Is your theme already using an element like a DIV with ID attribute and value “wrapper”? Can you give me a URL to check for you, please. All the best, Antonie

    Hello!

First, I would like to thank you for your excellent plugin :) Everything is working perfect except for one detail. It doesn’t show all the thumbnails in Google Chrome (3.0.195.38) in my site, and I checked in yours and it doesn’t do it there too.

It seems that it only shows half of the thumbnails available… Any clue about this bug?

    Thanks in advance

It’s all custom. A couple of hours of poking around and I narrowed it down to my use of a “wrapper” div for the whole site. Hyuck, hyuck you use that too. I should have checked that out first. I need to start using my own initials in all my div tags or something!

Anyway, problem solved, now I can actually try to USE the plugin! Thanks.

Nice plugin by the looks of it! I have a question about it though. Can you also have separate slide shows? By the looks of it you can only use this slide show for all images and not have multiple posts with separate slide shows on it, or am I wrong?

Also a quick tutorial or a more detailed explanation of how to set it up would be great, I couldn’t get it to work accurately, sometimes not all thumbnails showed up and my main image was showing on 50% (it was off set).

Would love to use this plugin as it seems to be the best one I’ve found so far :)
    Nice job!

I am receiving this fatal error message on my 2.9 WP dashboard with this plug in activated: Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_redirect() in /home2/diningw3/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php on line 33

It works fine on the site, but I have to deactivate to update widgets, post, etc. Any help?

Hi Antonie, thank you for the plugin, it works pretty fine.

I am here to report an issue : using a fresh WP 2.9 install when i activate the plugin & next try to upload an image i get this “Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_redirect() ..” which appears inside the Image Upload Modal Window plus below the Text Editor area.

The plugin works fine otherwise, picks up existing images attached to the current post before the plugin was installed & displays them in the slideshow as intended. Only that once i activate the plugin i can’t further upload images as ong as the plugin is active.

    Hoping you have any idea.

When activated I get this when updating widgets and or adding custom fields.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_redirect() in /…./…../shineonjesus/wp-admin/admin.php on line 33

using 2.9 with theme aerosold 1.0.4 when deactivated I can change things then I reactivate it works but it has a bug.

Hi there, thanks for the great plugin. Here are some issues that you may want to have a look at for the next versions. All test were done using v1.0.4, WP 2.9 and multiple versions of popular browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari):

    1. The link icon does not appear (and no link exists) in any browser. I know the link never worked in IE but now it doesn’t appear in either browser.

    2. Using Chrome, the width of the “slider” div in the inline styling is smaller than it should causing some of the thumbnails to disappear. I had to change the this.p.style.width=w+’px’; link in gallery.js and hardcopy the width that I need. The problem is that every time I update the plugin, I will have to manually set the width all over again.

    3. In all browsers, when you click in a thumbnail the slideshow stops and does not start again.

Thanks again for the plugin, I hope the issues above will be solved in later versions. Keep up the good work.

    Hey!

This plugin is damn sweet, altho I have a question. Is there any way I can make that thin border around the slideshow to go away?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

Your slideshow plugin is exactly what I need!
Somehow I do not succeed in getting it work properly. When I installed it with the suffusion theme I had a white screen as well (everything dissappeared)
Noite: I managed to add 3 pictues in a slideshow and added the code [slideshow] in a page
Changed my theme to default but it still is not showing..

    Hi,

Using the defalut theme is solving the issue PARTIALLY….

If you change the theme….for instance to SUFFUSION…..the gallery silder is nit visible.

    Is there a solution?

Give it a try at my site!

Yeah, in the Configuration section of the plugin, set the slideshow border to “none” (without the quotes).

You need to use `[slideshow custom=1]` to use the custom slides saved.

    Hi,
I had your plugin working fine on the the page using [slideshow]. After upgrading WP to 2.9 I just upgaded your widget to the latest version as well and now the images no longer work.

I have not made any changes to any settings or files. Any suggestions on how I get the plugin working again?

    Thanks

    Simon

  20. #20 by Marco on December 30, 2009 - 8:44 am

    Dear Antoine,

[slideshow custom=1] was already added. This is working for the default WordPress template (though the menu is not visible anymore????)
If you use other themes, like constructor, inove, mystique and suffusion the slider is not appearing. (with the same settings) In other words….there is definetly something wrong with your beautifull plugin.
(Note I am using WP 2.9)
After solving this, I will definetly donate you some coffee! Good luck and take care

    Marco

One more thing I’ve noticed (look at comment #11) is that the slideshow does not seem to appear at all when the plugin WP Super Cache is ON but works when it’s HALF ON. Even when I configure it not to cache the page that the slideshow is in (front page in the site I’m working on).

  22. #22 by knico on December 31, 2009 - 2:34 am

    more issues:
When the plugin is activated the changes on the “Screen Options” in the Dashboard (or any other page) in the back panel are not saved. For example if you uncheck the box for the “right now” and then you refresh the page, the “right now” info box appears again. I deactivated the plugin and tried it again and the changes were now saved.

It also conflicts with the Google Analyticator plugin so that the Google Analyticator’s widget in the dashboard returns this error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_redirect() in /home/*******/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php on line 33.
I guess it may also conflict with other widgets, perhaps the sidebar widgets too.

  23. #23 by Marcus on December 31, 2009 - 8:46 pm

Think you still have problems with WP 2.9. Installed 1.04 and getting errors:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_redirect() in myserverpath/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php on line 33

I get this error in different places in WP when your plugin is activated. Disable it and WP works fine.

The only thing I did was:
    1. Installed and activated 1.04
    2. Made a post with the text: [slideshow post_id=18]. Did only save it as a draft.

I have not tried to remove the post and se if the problem still exists.

    Dear Antonie,

Thanks for the slideshow gallery plugin – it’s been good to me, so far!

I am having the same problem mentioned in posts 6, 8, 9, and 14 and have posted on the WordPress Support forums at http://wordpress.org/support/topic/344414

Am running WordPress v2.9 with your Slideshow Gallery v1.0.4

Can you help with a fix for this problem?

    Many thanks,

    David

I like your slideshow and I am using it with wp 2.9.1, but I keep getting errors when I try to add something to my widgets.
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_redirect() in /home/veloalle/public_html/theme1/wp-admin/admin.php on line 33
when I turn off your plug in, I don’t get the error.

Any ideas or other plug-ins you might conflict with?

  27. #27 by Simon Wämmerfors on January 5, 2010 - 9:50 am

I´ll join the chorus: great and easy to use plugin!

Any plans to implement a random slideshow feature?

  28. #28 by Lee on January 6, 2010 - 6:29 am

I’ve installed the plugin. At first I, too, had a conflict with the Wrapper ID tag but fixed that. Now I have my site working again but not the plugin. On the correct page in my browser, the [slideshow] tag doesn’t show up (which is good) but then, nothing else does either. No code is being generated. Any thoughts?

    Hi, great plugin!

Just a quick question though… I noticed that there seems to be about 25 blank pixels that is on top and below the slideshow frame. Any way I can customize this and make this smaller?

    Thanks!

Can this plug-in be used as a widget?

  35. #35 by brandon on February 21, 2010 - 4:36 am

Hi Andy- You need to upgrade from php4 to php5- I had the same problem.

Now I’ve fixed that problem, and I have another:

My slideshow is not present… does it work in the NEUTRA theme?

  36. #36 by brandon on February 21, 2010 - 5:56 am

Updated Answer: I needed to replace [slideshow] with [slideshow custom=1]

You can see my sideshow on: http://www.sterndesigners.com

I’m not quite sure why i needed to do this but it now works. It seems that two common problems are that people do not upgrade their linux servers to php5 and use the wrong short code.

Can you tell me why I need to use [slideshow custom=1] rather then [slideshow]… i’m just curious : )

    Thanks!

    Brandon

    Hi,

I had this plugin working for my slideshows until I updated it to the new version last week. Now there’s just a black background where the image should appear. I’ve re-installed it back to the old version but it’s still the same.

    Here’s an example: http://www.grassrootsjourneys.com/explore/south-america/ecuador/fundacion-yanapuma/

Any help would be much appreciated!

Love the plugin. Using it on a couple sites, but have run into a problem where my javascript dropdown menu gets hidden behind the slideshow in ie7. is there an easy solution? I have experimented with the z-index, but am not having alot of luck from the css side.
