WordPress Slideshow Gallery v1.0.5

This release of the WordPress slideshow gallery plugin should improve some of the features overall and also adds some new functionality. Here is a list of changes…

  • IMPROVED
    WordPress 2.9 draggable meta boxes.
  • BUG FIX
    wp_redirect() fatal error in dashboard.
  • ADDED
TinyMCE plugin button to add shortcodes.
  • ADDED
“exclude” parameter to work in conjunction with the “post_id” parameter to exclude attachments by order.
  • CHANGE
    Changed #wrapper to #slideshow-wrapper on the front-end.

I hope that you enjoy this new release! You can either use the automatic update feature in the ‘Plugins’ section if you already have the WordPress slideshow gallery plugin installed or you can download it directly from WordPress.org by going here.

    Hi Antonie,

Best gallery out there for WP!

Still only one (or 2) thumbnails showing in Safari and Chrome (webkit) on Mac though?

Have to hardcode the width in gallery.js. Any thoughts?

    All the best!
    Toby

Thanks for the plugin Mr. Potgieter. You do excellent work. All I need to do now is to get my photos together.

for what ever reason your new css repositioned it on my page. It copied the old css from wrapper and it put everything back in it’s place. Thanks for fixing the fatal error… life is so much better now. : )

    #slideshow-wrapper { width:px; background:; padding:2px; border:; margin:25px auto; display:none; }
    #slideshow-wrapper * { margin:0; padding:0; }

Great plugin! Just what I was looking for. There are so many flash slideshows, but very few javascript ones. I much prefer javascript.

I do have one feature request.

On line 7 of views/default/gallery.php you ask for the full size image. It would be nice if there were an option to ask for other sizes (large, medium, thumbnail), since this will reduce the bandwidth for the images, and not rely on browser resizing of images. I tested it with “large” and it works great, and reduces each request on my website from the 100-200 KB range to 30-40 KB

WordPress 2.91, with the 1.0.5 plugin version. I do not see the tinymce buttons on my edit post or page screen to insert a slideshow. Any ideas?

The plugin installed fine, but I cannot see anything on the Configuration Settings page since upgrading to the latest version.

Hi there, I just downloaded your plug-in but there is not content on the configuration page. Any ideas why that might be? Cheers

    Hi

I would like to configure the gallery so that title and captions display outside the main image area, i.e do not obscure the image at all. Is this possible?

Ideally I would like the image, thumbnails, navigation to float left in a div, while the title and caption are to the right.

It is because you are running PHP4 on your site. The solution is to upgrade to PHP5.

    Hi!
I’m playing around with WordPress 2.9.1 on localhost installation and love your plugin. BUT, I cannot get it to work. No matter which version I try I can install it but as soon as I try to activate it wordpress goes bananas and I have to manually remove the plugin to get the site working again. Using WAMP. Any ideas?

  18. #18 by erz on February 7, 2010 - 12:46 am

    Thank you for your plugin!
It works great with my local MAMP-installation, but when I try to use it on my live page (containing the very same plugins and theme) the images do not load correctly. When clicking on the arrows sometime a picture is loaded, but not consistently.

Since this has been an issue with plugins in the past, I should add that I am running wordpress in a subfolder. Sometimes this confuses plugins that are looking for the ABSPATH.

You can find the nonworking gallery on http://kontextschmiede.de/galeriebilder/

Any thoughts on what causes the problem and how I could salvage the issue? Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
I would really love to use this plugin as I am having major conflicts with the FCG plug in.
But as soon as I activate it on my site the whole scree goes blank and just shows the backround colour.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    thanks,

    Dave

This is a great plugin. I am wondering if there is a way to utilize just the thumbnails so that my gallery is only the thumbnails without individual picture transitions?

  21. #21 by Brandon on February 17, 2010 - 4:57 am

I guess I am not the only one having the IE link issue. This plugin is great but I will wait until the IE bug is ironed out I cant ignore half my audience.

    Thanks for the hard work.

    Hi Everyone:

I thought I would write this post since I encountered two common problems. I also provide a quick answer.

If your CONFIGURE tab is empty, you need to upgrade your linux server to PHP5.

If you paste your [slideshow] short code and it does not work, try using: [slideshow custom=1]

You can see my slide show running live on my homepage @ http://www.sterndesigners.com

    I really LOVE this plugin.

    Hi. :)

    Nice plugin!

Am I too stupid or why couldnt I add more than 1 picture to a slide?

I use [ slideshow custom=1 ] – without spaces ;) – and if I use an folder path no images are displayed. if I use a direct link to an image this one is visible. :(

  24. #24 by mg on May 19, 2010 - 12:15 am

I just now found out another reason (apart from IE incompatibility) NOT to use this plugin. Anyone who had installed it should check his website with seo keyword analyzer. Depending on how many slides you use (the more the worse), your most popular keywords will probably be: slideshow, gallery, wp, content and such, e.g. keywords from your WP path to slideshow images. Unless you want to promote your website for such keywords, beware.

Hey, for some reason the images aren’t showing up. I have done everything right but they are not showing. Please help. The slideshow is on my home page.

  27. #27 by RRG on June 2, 2010 - 2:58 am

The only real way to make this us full is via the
    [slideshow custom=1]

And you can add custom photos and number them 1,2,3..etc..above.

But where you add more photos under manage slides, there is no identification to see what number each as been assigned. So yo have to count from the bottom up if you’ve added something recently that is next to something you added months or weeks ago or maybe even pages of them, then you have to count. Seems pretty lame for something soo cool. Maybe they/you can add that feature????

    Thanks for reading

Love the plugin! It’s on our web site, front and center – but I can’t find any way to order the slides! Pressing “order slides” brings me to a page where I can drag and rearrange them fine but it’s always a last inserted, last frame issue. All slides show order number “1″ so I’d appreciate a tip – or to hear it’s a known bug.

    Hi,

Great plugin, but I have a question. The plugin seems to work in every browser but IE. Is this a compatibility issue? My server is PHP 5 enabled. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi There!

Love the easy-to-use-plugin! I came across this plugin when I had to delete other slideshow plugins. Just one thing I need, is there any way I remove hover links on the photos? In other words, I don’t want visitors to ‘click’ on the slideshow; I just went them to view. Please let me know if this is possible. My v2 website is: http://www.cakedla.com/v2

Thank you so much! I LOVE this plugin! Awesome work!

This has been asked before once, but not answered.. is there a way to turn off the hyperlinking to the image if so desired (the way you have for your own sample gallery?). I think this is a great gallery for portfolios, but if you have right click disabled your site to discourage saving of images the linked image does not contain that restriction..

    Thanks!
